Marble runs workshop

For the KS2 morning, we have been thinking about marble runs. Parents and carers build a marble run in a cardboard box with their own child, and at the end the boxes join into one big run.

The EYFS and KS1 mornings stay as Petting Zoo.

Families come in straight after drop off.

Welcome

A quick look at the tools, and finished runs for ideas.

Most of the morning

Building

A run in one box, or across several for brothers, sisters or friends. Facilitators are on hand.

About 30 minutes before the end

Joining up

Boxes join into one big run.

10 to 15 minutes before the end

Testing

Everyone tests the big run and plays with it.

Who does what

Marner and the Institute of Imagination

Marner

  • A KS2 morning, as one of the three, by Friday 27 November.
  • How early we can be in the room to set up.
  • The families you think would get the most from it, plus a sign-up for numbers.

Institute of Imagination

  • All the tools and materials, including a box for every run.
  • Two facilitators at minimum, plus volunteers.
  • Set-up and clear-up.

Younger brothers and sisters not yet at school are welcome. We ask permission for photographs at the session.
